The Robertson Sandie Home is managed by our Registered Manager Polly O'Neill, with the support of her Senior Care Staff and a team of full and part time care staff, the home provides a 'home away from home' for our residents.
Our Registered Manager Mrs. Polly O'Neill has been in post as manager since 2004 in addition to having worked at the home previously. Polly has over 20 years experience in social care and is trained to NVQ Level 4 (Health & Social Care), NVQ level 5 (Business management) and in addition has completed the "Registered Managers Award", "PTLLS" award, is an A1 NVQ assessor and accredited manual handling trainer.
Senior Care Assistants
At The Robertson Sandie Home we employ 3 Senior Care Assistants who are responsible directly to the Manager. Our Senior Care Assistants provide and ensure the highest possible levels of care are given and maintained by supporting/assisting our residents with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing and all other aspects of daily living when needed.
Our Senior Care Assistants assist residents in other aspects of their care needs such as liaising with GP's, Community and District Nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary teams (i.e. hospital appointments, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dentists, opticians etc.). This integral part of being a Senior Care Assistant is necessary to ensure that our residents receive the best standard of care possible.
Senior Care Assistants are responsible for administering prescribed medication.
Our Senior Care Assistants also supervise our 14 Care Assistants that they work alongside.
Our 3 dedicated Senior Care Assistants are Jane, Sophie and Craig.
At The Robertson Sandie Home we employ Care Assistants that meet our high expectations, they must show a keen willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programmes to further develop their skills and knowledge, as well as showing a genuine interest in working with the elderly.
All of the staff at The Robertson Sandie Home undergo the mandatory Police Records Check (DBS) before commencing their duties.
It is imperative to us that our staff work successfully as a team as this is key to providing the high levels of care that we pride ourselves on.
The Activities Co-Ordinator Carole plays a very important role within our home. Carole works closely with the residents helping them to socialise within the home as well as providing a number of different activities that cater for all tastes.
Carole is very active in ensuring that residents have individual activity plans that enable them to continue pre existing hobbies once they arrive with us at the home. Relatives and friends are also actively encouraged to participate in activities.
Carole's main aim is to provide a choice of suitable; intellectual, spiritual and physical activity for our residents.
The Robertson Sandie Home's registered provider is Mr. A. J. Hutchison, Chairman of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Hutchison joined the Society in 1993 as a volunteer Trustee, on his retirement from a career with Royal Insurance Group, becoming Chairman in 2005. If you feel the need to speak to The Chairman or a member of the Executive Committee please make an appointment with the Registered Manager.
The home employs one cook; Martin, who is dedicated to meeting the individual dietary requirements of all our residents.
Martin works hard to maintain the highest food hygiene rating awarded by the local authority.
Martin also strives to maintain a good rapport with all our residents by regularly talking to them about the current menu, choice and individual resident preferences of the food provided.
